"Yesterday, I was kindly invited by EnduroLab to go for a Lactate Profile Assessment, something i've wanted to do for a while but never quite got round to. And wow......what an interesting hour it was (and also surprisingly fun too, which I definitely wasn't expecting!).
We live in a world of data and metrics, but often find ourselves following generic guidelines and/or data from devices which just aren't accurate. I was intrigued to find out more about my actual thresholds and how I can use them to train more effectively and improve performance.
The test itself is completely tailored to you and works whatever your fitness level. It's not intimidating or something that is 'just for elite athletes.' The process was fun and the final report is fascinating - some things I was expecting and some things I really wasn't. I've come away with a personalised and accurate assessment of my LT1 and LT2, where my actual 'easy' and 'tempo' zones are and some really solid data which I can now use to optimise my training and hopefully start hitting some goals i've been working towards.

“I had a lactate threshold test with EnduroLab and it was fab - interesting, helpful and much more fun that 5 miles on a treadmill sounds!! Tom, immediately put me at ease, explaining everything thoroughly and keeping me motivated throughout. I now have a detailed report outlining my training zones, made up of a combination of pace, heart rate and rate of perceived effort, with personalised recommendations of how to focus my training to achieve my goals.
Before I went, I was a little apprehensive as I wasn't sure if it was for an 'ordinary' runner - it seemed more like something an elite athlete would do - but it absolutely was for me!! If anything I think even more so as we (ordinary runners) are less likely to understand our data , so there's absolutely loads to learn.
